My interests lie at the intersection of the ordinary and the not-quite-explainable. I am a student of history, art, nature, folklore, mythology, ritual, and the ways people make sense of the world around them.
My academic background is in Archaeology and History, but most of what I've learned since then has happened through following my curiosity. I've worked and volunteered in museums, done archaeological excavation and historical interpretation, and spent a lot of time around collections, objects, old places, and the stories attached to them.
I'm also an artist. I came to painting later in life and am still very much in the process of figuring out what I want to say and how I want to say it. I work primarily in oils and am especially drawn to landscape, atmosphere, unexpected color, and those lush moments when something familiar suddenly feels a little strange. I'm interested in the edges where one state becomes another: light and dark, wild and cultivated, past and present, ordinary and mysterious.
Returning to nature has become increasingly important to me as well. I'm involved in my local rewilding community and am interested in native plants, habitat, birds, seasonal change, and simply paying closer attention to the place where I live. I'm interested in rewilding not just as a way of changing landscapes, but as a way of changing how we think about our relationship with the living world.
The witch in me is brought to life through folklore, magic, mythology, Tarot, seasonal traditions, and the old ways. I'm less interested in separating "history" from "myth" or "nature" from "culture" than I am in exploring the places where those things overlap.
For most of my working life, I've worked in the technology and SaaS world, primarily in project management and client facing roles. It's a very different part of my life, but it has given me the opportunity to work with a variety of people and industries. I've always enjoyed the parts of the work that involve teaching, explaining, and connecting ideas.
This site is a place to collect some of those threads. It's part art portfolio, part personal archive, and part record of what I'm learning, noticing, making, and wondering about.
I don't really have a single area of expertise, and I'm not sure I want one. I'm more interested in following the connections between things and seeing where they lead.
